“Okay, let’s start over here,” I said gesturing to the room we were in, the room that at first witnessed the tears I shed for Adam until my eyes were dry from crying, witness to my pleas to God, wishing Adam would come and rescue me from here, that it was all a misunderstanding, but it was not.
But I opened my eyes and stopped having such stupid fantasies and realized that no one would save me, that only I could do it and, in the process, help the others who were here longing for freedom.
We spread the fuel all over the room and I felt the excitement vibrate in my chest for what would happen next.
“Tell the others that when they are done waiting in the yard, you too, I have to take care of something personally,” I told them, and they, with matching smiles, went to do as I told them.
