Jade’s POV

I was worried, so I decided to remain in Charlotte’s room till she came back. What if he hurt her...or forced himself on her? I prayed to the Moon Goddess that he wouldn’t. Charlotte didn’t deserve that. No one did.

I had a feeling he had an interest in her the day he had sent a guard to fetch her. Thor had never sent for a maid before. But I had hoped that whatever it was, it would eventually die away.

Apparently, it hadn’t. He was still very much interested in her.

Charlotte’s POV

I got back to my room and thanked the Moon Goddess when I noticed that Jade had left. I needed to be alone now. I ran to the bathroom and turned on the light, then reached for a clean cloth. I soaked it in running water and dabbed the wound on my neck. It burned a bit, but I had to get rid of the blood.

Tears flowed down my eyes as I cleaned the wound gently. He had tried to hurt me. I thought...I was a fool. I ran into his arms of my own will. I w
