I swallowed hard as tears streamed down my face once more, and happiness and disbelief fluttered in my stomach. “You came for us?”

He smiled despite the pain—that small, mischievous grin that he always gave whenever he thought he was some kind of superhero every time he showed himself to me. “Of course, Giselle." There was determination in his voice that made me a little shy as he stared at me without blinking. “I told you I would never give up on you, right? So here I am, risking everything just to make sure you and Catherine are safe.”
