Nate's POV

"Retreat!” I could hear Leon’s men scream as I knelt with Layla’s body.

“Don’t leave me, please.”

"Nate.”

“I remember, I remember everything. I’m sorry.”

“Why did you do it?” I couldn’t let them hurt you or anyone of yours so I figured if I don’t remember, it would be safer.”

A tear dropped from her face. I wiped it away immediately.

“Don’t let go.” She said and I nodded as her eyes shut tighter. “You have to save Stephen.”

“But I cannot leave you.”

“My fate has been left in the hands of the moon goddess the moment I decided to jump in front of that arrow.”

“Why did you do that?”

“Better me than you.”

“Stop talking. I take you to the pack.”

“No, go after them.”

I looked at her and wondered what she was thinking that made her think I would leave her and go after someone. No matter how they are, if they cannot catch up to them, then they would love to fight another day.
