Nate's POV
I visited my mother’s graveyard for the first time in about six months, and it gave me a kind of deja vu feeling about how she died.
As soon as I left my mother’s graveyard, I made my way straight to my study instead of the room I now share with Layla. I didn’t have the guts to face my mate now. I was afraid that she would see through me and realize the atrocity that I had committed. I didn’t know how to face her.
I hadn’t spent a long time in my study when a soft knock came at the door. I didn’t respond to it because I didn’t want to talk right now. I didn’t feel like talking to anyone.
“Go away,” I said when the person knocked again.
“It’s me your Alpha, I brought your lunch for you,” The maid, Irene said.
“Take it away, Irene. I’m not hungry, but you should make sure that my mate eats her lunch. She seems like someone who is having an appetite loss these days,” I said to Irene. Irene was really baffled at my words. I
