Nate's POV

“Your Majesty" Layla called, her voice laced with concern. She knew that something was bothering me. After all I had done the same thing, like I had zoned out when I told her that I wanted to tell her something. She didn’t know what it was, and she really wanted to know, but since it seemed like it was hard for me, she didn’t look like she wanted to pressure me. Although I didn’t know how long I had before she started pressuring me for what I had always wanted to tell her.

I took a deep breath to calm myself down and after that, I cleared my throat.

“Yes, my love,” I smiled at her, but she needed no soothsayer to tell her that the smile was feigned. It lacked the usual warm look that I had whenever I smiled.

“Is there something that is bothering you, Alpha” She asked, her concern evident on her face and in her voice. I didn’t say anything. Instead, I took her hands into mine.

“I want to ask for a favor from you, babe,” I said
