Listening to that, after realizing the effect I had on him, the way he seemed to contradict himself all the time, left me in shock. Shocked and scared. But I wasn’t afraid. Even to the extent that I made a decision that could cost that bond between us.
“Don’t risk it,” I asked in a firm tone. “I will stay out of the way. Just give me something useful to do as we look for the witch.”
Randall laughed lowly.
“Keep studying your stars, looking for some answer. Keep watching the moon, measuring its proximity and the way it has made us angrier. Keep being you.”

“What about you? The way you want to ignore me without humiliating me even more?”
