Chapter 23
Randall sat next to me, pulling the cold blouse I wore like a blanket and taking a look at my body. As he made a face, I realized that he seemed to be smelling me. I bathed in a precarious way, kept my hygiene as best I could, considering that no one ever asked how I felt living there. However, it was not the common smell of sweat that seemed to bother him. He really smelled death.
“Because you are my mate, and we already know that if you are weak, so am I. I haven’t been able to concentrate on my obligations for days, and I’ve been losing my strength little by little. I left Marcus in charge so that my pack doesn’t see the level of influence you cause me, but it got worse than I imagined.”
“Sorry,” I muttered as I shuddered from a new chill. The lack of my second cold blouse made me feel the cold of the shed. “I promised that I would do my best to get away.”
