Chapter 7
Josephine’s POV
I held my breath as I waited for Elle to complete her statement. Something told me I wasn’t going to like it, but if it was going to fix the rift between us, I was pretty sure that I would try to give it a shot.
“This isn’t the right place for you,” Elle resumed talking. “I think you’re too saintly for this place.”
I wasn’t expecting that. A slow grin spread across my face. But Elle’s face was still solid. The grin disappeared on its own.
“You know what?” Elle said after a long pause. “It’s been a long day, and I can tell that you need some rest. I need some rest too. Just go to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be your first day in class here. You’ll need your energy for all the introductions you’ll be doing in class, trust me,” Elle said with a note of finality.
“Can I ask you an honest question, though?” I asked carefully. The thought had just slipped into my mind, and I thought to clear away all doubts so that my mind would be put to rest.
