Dalia’s POV

Thank God.

I breathed a sigh of relief when he told me Amber’s mom had always been absent. I smiled a little before I cautioned myself. There’s no need to feel relaxed and happy, he’s still your boss and off limits too.

Why did he tell me about it though? It’s not like he owes me an explanation for that but I’m glad he did because it helped me maintain a clear conscience.

“Are you coming, Miss Taylors?” His voice jolted me out of my thinking and that was when I realized I hadn’t moved from the stairs.

“Of course, sir,” I moved towards him and I saw a ghost of a smile on his face.

I entered his study and I was amazed. It was surprisingly homely with a lot of sunlight. There were shelves around the room filled with books to the brim. A large, fine, desk that screamed power and luxury sat towards the window and that made me wonder, ‘what is with this man and large desks’.
