Chapter 31
SCARLETT
The room was lit up with low-hanging crystal chandeliers and built-in bulbs. The tables were clean and a few were occupied by patrons. The empty ones had two champagne flutes on either side, squeaky clean and glinting under the lights. Ivory-colored napkins were neatly folded into the cups and the table was covered in navy blue taffeta material, laced with silver and gold thread.
"This place is really beautiful," Finn said as he walked behind me.
I nodded. "Indeed, it is."
"Must be really expensive."
"That, too."
One of the waiters saw us standing by one of the tables and he walked to us and bowed politely.
"How may I be of help to you, ma'am, sir."
I was surprised that he didn't recognize me but it was for good. The other waiters and waitresses knew who I was and didn't hide the fact that they did. It was tiring most of the time.
