Chapter 89. Nina’s Guilt
Alexander’s POV
“Get our legal team involved—if this is coordinated, we can sue for defamation. And double down on the public relations push. I want every major outlet printing a retraction by tomorrow morning.”
“Yes, sir,” my assistant said quickly, retreating to the door. “I will get on it right away.”
As he left, the office was quiet again, but the silence did not bring me any peace. I leaned against the window, staring out at the city below, but my mind was not on the buildings.
It was on Nina.
I had promised her I would help. I had told her that whatever happened, I would be there for her, that I would get to the bottom of her mother’s death, no matter what. But now… Now, I was not so sure. I could not even keep my own company afloat, let alone dig into something as complex as her investigation. The guilt gnawed at me, sharp and persistent, like an ache I could not ignore.
My phone buzzed again, this time with a text message.
