Chapter 48. Almost

"Are you crazy?!" snapped Sarah in a muffled scream because she didn't want Granny to hear their conversation. She jerked her arm away from Matthew and walked quickly to her room.

"I love you and always will, you know that right?" said Matthew as he looked at Sarah's back with an unyielding look.

Sarah froze where she stood. Of course, she felt the same way, but it was useless without Matthew's mother's blessing. Why would they have a relationship that has no clear end?

Matthew pulled her hand away as if he could read Sarah's head, so she turned to face him. Their eyes stared deeply into each other, "Please..." he whispered, his face so close that Sarah could feel his breath.
