Chapter 2

The three packed some of their clothes and picked up their passports and IDs. George took out a pistol and threw it to Dave; another was thrown to Martha. Martha immediately asked what she should do with it. George replied that what was coming was more than what she thought. George went to the living room to pick up his cap. As he put it on his head, he heard a gunshot, and it hit the television.

George shouted for everyone to get down, urging Dave and Martha to stay on the floor to avoid bullets. Bullets rained into the house, destroying the television, the freezer, and many other things in the living room. Some bullets pierced the bedroom wall. George rolled to meet Dave and Martha as the gunfire continued to increase and approach the house. Dave, George, and Martha found their way through the back door, took a car from the garage, and zoomed off. Allister watched everything from afar and nodded. The thugs entered the house, searched every room, and set it ablaze because they couldn’t find their target.

Dave’s cell phone rang. He picked up, and the same unknown caller laughed loudly and said to him, “How lucky you are to survive death twice in one night,” and promised that he would find him. Dave shouted at the unknown caller with anger and told him to fuck off. Then he threw the phone out of the car window.

George was silent for a few minutes, and finally, he said to Dave, “Who was that?”

Dave replied, “The same motherfucker who wants me dead,” and George asked again, “Who is that then?”

Dave replied, “I don’t know.”

This explained to George that Dave had been involved in stealing from various d*** cartels and selling across the border, but he couldn’t figure out which deal had led to someone wanting him dead. He only remembered stealing barrels from a container, but he had done that more than once, and all previous deals had been completed.

Martha tapped Dave, looked him in the eye, and told him that it was as if she knew who was after their lives. George became furious and wanted to know who might be targeting Martha. Martha scratched her head and said, “I didn’t want to tell you this, but I forgot to mention that I lost the necklace you gave me at the hotel with Suarez.”

“Who is Suarez?” George asked.

Dave was silent in shock and couldn’t believe his ears, as Martha had previously told him that the necklace had been stolen in a street robbery. Martha further explained to George that Suarez was a d*** lord from Colombia who traded d***s all over the country and across borders. He had the largest number of cartels and had conquered many governments. He was the richest and most feared d*** lord, working with the police and state military.

Dealing with Suarez was the trickiest part of their previous deals. Dave knew they were in for a hellish ride. Suarez had his boys all over the state and across the border, and he would even work with the government to find Dave.

George suggested they travel to Georgia, as he had a military friend who could help them.

“That’s bullshit,” said Martha. “Suarez will have his boys and spies all over the city and in the airport.” She believed the airway would be a success. The only way they could get there was by road, so they had to be prepared.

Dave looked at George and asked him, “Are you kidding me? It’s a 5- to 6-hour drive, and I’m fucking exhausted, man.”

George smiled at him and said, “You’ll have to wait until Suarez feasts on your flesh.”

Martha laughed, and Dave angrily said, “What’s so damn funny, bitch? You caused this!” Martha couldn’t hold it in and shouted back at Dave, telling him he shouldn’t have left her alone with a monster. George calmed them down and told them they had no time and their enemies might be closing in.

They drove to a gas station and filled the tank while Martha went straight into the small mall. She pointed a gun at the attendant, demanding she put all the money in her bag and grab some canned food. She then jumped back outside and went straight to the car, and Dave drove off.

Two hours later, Allister arrived at the same station, filled his bike, and went straight to the mall. He asked the attendant about Dave and Martha, showing her their pictures. The attendant recognized Martha’s face and told Allister that the lady in the picture had robbed her hours ago and zoomed off in a car with two men. Allister nodded and asked which direction they had taken, and the attendant pointed to the road. Allister walked away, telling the attendant to stay out of trouble. He came out of the mall and threw a grenade inside. BOOM! The mall exploded, and Allister sped off, going after his target.

George was unhappy about Martha stealing from the attendant and questioned her. She told George to fuck off. Dave told Martha to be nice and asked George to stay calm. George called his friend on the cell phone but got no answer. He called again, but his friend didn’t respond. George left an offline message, saying he was coming to his friend’s house in the next seven hours and really needed him to call back.

The phone rang, and George picked it up. It was his friend from Georgia. “Hey, Geo, what’s up?” he said from the other end.

George replied, “Hi buddy, I’m cool. I have some issues, and I need your assistance.”

His friend replied, “Okay, Geo, I’m here for you.”

Dave asked who it was, and George replied that it was his friend who lived in Georgia, an ex-military guy named Harper.
