Chapter 158. Coffee with Reiki

“Forget about why I am working here. What’s wrong with you?” Reiki asked.

Elaine looked around the coffee shop. It was a nice place by any standard but it just didn’t feel like Reiki’s kind of turf. “Please, tell me Andrew didn’t fire you because of me.”

“Hank did. Is that what you came all the way from Kentwood to ask?”

“Right.” Elaine nodded while one hand worked to wipe the tears from her face as she narrated all that happened since she went back to the town.

“That’s a lot to process. We’re going to need Coffee. On the house.” Reiki went to the counter and grabbed a jug before she poured its content into two mugs. She slid one mug across the table to Elaine. “Okay, so what’s the problem? You love Andrew and he proposed to you.”

“That is the problem. There in the town where we’re isolated from everyone. If he loved me, he would have come to the city with me. I would not be okay being in a relationship with him knowing that I never made peace with Melv
