Chapter 162. Make Up
Melvin slowed the car to a stop at the curb beside a coffee shop. He honked as he came down. Some people cast nasty look at him but he glared at them as he wore his sunshades. He opened the door to the coffee shop and didn’t move until he spotted his red-haired money maker at one end of the room. Beside her, that woman with the black hair stood holding a tray with a fruit pie on it.
“Elaine?” he called.
Her head turned to his direction and she stood, wiping her hands on her clothes, black boots, black trousers and a dark red shirt. “Mel… Melvin. Come and sit.”
“No need.” He looked round again. “This place isn’t exactly a private place to talk.”
“We can sit by a booth—”
“No.” He shook his head. He knew he could play on her guilt and have her wrapped around his little fingers. “I want us to have a mature conversation about what happened that night and if you’re not ready for that, I’m leaving.”
