Melvin opened the door that led to the CEO’s office. Someone gasped as he entered. A man with a balding head and a tuft of thick brown hair under his nose. The cup of coffee the man held fell and landed on the tile floor, pieces of glass scattering everywhere.
Melvin’s lips lifted in a small smile even though he didn’t feel like smiling much these days. “Nice to see you too, Roberts.”
“But you were dead. They buried you. I saw it with my own eyes.”
“A case of mistaken identity. I’m as alive as alive can be.”
“Shoot.” Roberts came to him and shook his hand hard. “I’m glad you’re alive. When I heard you were dead, I didn’t know how to take the news.”
“Yeah. Where’s Annette?” Melvin drew his hand away from Roberts cold and sweaty hands.
“She just stepped out. You know, you and I—”
“At any other time, Roberts. Now, I have bigger fish to fry.” Melvin walked towards Andrew’s office.
