Elaine paced outside the admin office of the town’s only public elementary school. She checked her wristwatch as she watched the seconds roll by. Andrew was late and he wasn’t picking his calls.

The admin door opened and Sharon walked out, dressed in a simple blue shirt tucked into a leopard print skirt. “Is he here yet? The principal has another appointment in ten minutes.”
