Chapter 167. Walk Around the Block

Elaine was back at Reiki’s shop the next morning. Melvin had been too busy to drop her off but he had directed the drivers to take her wherever she needed to go to and bring her back. She had declined. She wasn’t ready to be tailgated by anyone who wasn’t Reiki. But he had given her a car. One of those fancy automatic ones.

It wasn’t necessary. She was going back to town. She glanced out the window at a truck similar to Pops’ parked behind Melvin’s gift. It looked out of place in the gleam and glam of the city. Guilt ate up a part of her. She had simply abandoned Pops and his twisted ankle just to see Melvin. Just as Andrew had left everything for her.
