He had been so sure that when he told her the truth about Melvin’s disappearance and how that tied in with Dr. Doan and the voice that sounded like Alfred, that she would forgive him for keeping her heritage from her. And that it would open up more ground for them to talk.

Instead, all she had done was call him a liar and flung the papers in his face. He hadn’t thought it was possible but she seemed to hate him more than before. He stood there heart broken and not sure of what to do, even as the papers, the only means of evidence he had flew about in the wind.
