He still held her hand even though her thumbprint had registered in the system. And she didn’t pull away. It was little interactions like this that gave him some hope – like a teenage boy whose crush had replied to that special text message.
But he was never one to fawn over women. It wasn’t worth it. He cast her hand away. “You don’t seem to enjoy wearing your ring.”
“It’s not that I don’t enjoy it.” She pushed her glasses closer to her face. “It’s more that the ring is so expensive that I don’t just want to wear it carelessly.”
