Chapter 86. Eleven Days
Melvin sat by a table while he waited for Elaine to arrive. The restaurant was filled with many vacant tables. Mostly because the rush hour was at lunchtime or when most of the working class was free during the evenings. Not 10 p.m. in the morning.
He ought to be at work too. Andrew had fixed the car deal, and everything was running smoothly in his life. Except for his love life. He’d all but given up on Gwen. He could not be his brother. He did not want to be his brother, and if she couldn’t love him for who he was, then he had nothing of himself to offer anymore.
The restaurant door opened, and Elaine marched in, followed by a woman with short dark hair dressed in a tailored black suit. If he’d been at a bar, he would have picked the woman over his fiancée. There was just something about women with dark hair. Maybe he could convince Elaine to dye her hair.
