Chapter 12
Mike’s voice ushered Nick into his house. He looked back at the door to be sure it was his house and not Mike’s. A frown settled on his face. How did he get in?
He walked into his sunken sitting room, a large space with beige-colored cushions at the center, large posters on the wall, grey blinds, and a wall of glass befitting his affluence. He saw Mike raising a glass to his lips. He was speaking to someone, certainly a woman, on the phone, and he sounded gloomy.
The room was too simple yet spacious for a popular, wealthy BirdF owner. His household staff would usually stay in till weekends, but he had given them all a week off. The season was almost coming to an end. This made him wonder how Mike got in.
