Chapter 15
Nick had forgotten that Mike drove them to the bar, and they had come with just a car. He’d driven in that heated fury for a while when he remembered. Turning back the wheels, he went to fetch him. Mike was gone when he went back. He couldn’t ask anyone.
The hall still blared with hot music, and the smell of sweat had increased. Nick wondered why he hadn’t thought about the effects before stepping into the bar club in the first place. Stopping at the counter, the waitress who had served their drinks appeared, her smile unwavering.
“Seen my brother?”
“Excuse me?” Her tiny voice could go through the noise.
“The guy I came with.” He pointed towards the table they’d used. The waitress followed his hands. When he looked up at her again, she had a slight frown on her face. She nodded her head in the negative, “No idea.”
Nick held on to ask more questions, but the waitress turned her attention to another customer, leaving him to worry about his brother alone.<
