Aria finished the lesson note plan and went down to get a glass of her favorite soya latte and doughnut. The nurse had made them as makeup for a loss the last time. The night was cold, and nothing made it any different. Angeline and her boss had succeeded in making a mockery of her, and she had to deal with the difficulty in explaining to the board.

Her mother lay still, breathing slowly and drawilly. The only sound that covered the room was the sound from the operator. It signaled when anyone came in and when someone left. Angeline stared at her for a while before reaching over to the fridge to pick up her drink. The nurse had not stayed over, and the only company her mother had was the cat. It preferred her mother, so she let it stay.
