Anna blinked, trying to process the weight of his words. “Wait…what? I don’t—I don’t get it.” 

Zac let out a humorless chuckle, rubbing his temples. “Yeah, I know. It sounds insane, but it’s the truth. When I was the demon king, Victor made a deal with me—-one that I never fulfilled. And now, since I am no longer bound to my throne, he’s making me pay up.”

She shook her head, standing abruptly. “I don’t know whether to believe you or not. I thought you lost your powers when you gave up being the demon king for being a human?” 

“I did, but I still happen to possess powers when I am working in line with the deals that I made with the people who I never held up my end of the deal with.” 

“Wow,” She said under her breath, not really even knowing what to say. “I don’t know if I can trust you,” She confessed after a few long seconds.
