Anna resisted the urge to look over her shoulder, knowing that if someone was actually watching her, showing fear would only make things worse, or cause them to enjoy what they were doing.
She kept walking, squared her shoulders, and straightened her posture. Her heels clicked against the pavement with steady determination.
The morning air was crisp, a slight breeze brushing against her exposed skin, sending a shiver down her spine. She reached the sidewalk and pulled out her phone, checking to see if Zac or Liam had responded to her message from last night.
But there was nothing. And it made her feel a bit unsettled.
She knew that Zac always responded to her, so why had he not responded? Then it dawned on her, that she had asked him for space. So maybe not responding was his way of doing that.
And as for Liam, the guy thrived on control. Silence was not really his thing or style.
