Chapter 70. A Run
Zac was gone and she was alone in the apartment. She hated being alone, it was something that she had always struggled with since she was a child.
Being alone felt like torture to her. So many thoughts would run through her head and she would not know what to do. Being alone felt like a punishment.
And now, Zac was gone and she was alone.
She stood up from the couch and headed for the bathroom, making sure to open the faucet and let the water run. She spayed some of it on her face and then tried to focus on her breathing. She did not know whether it was the water that calmed her or whether it was the sound of it gushing into the sink.
But she did know that it brought her some comfort.
Anna really missed home. She wanted to go back. She wanted all of this to be just a nightmare and that she would wake up in a cold sweat at any moment. But she knew that it was real. And that she could not run away from it all no matter how hard she tried.
