Chapter 74. Waiting for the Email

Anna flinched at the harsh crunching as Zac ground the burner phone beneath his heel. The plastic casting cracked, exposing the delicate circuitry inside. He stomped down once more for good measure, making sure that it was completely unusable. 

“There. It’s done,” He muttered, stepping back and looking around. 

Anna swallowed, feeling a strange sense of finality. “Should we get rid of the pieces too?” 

“Yeah… I guess,” The guy replied as he shrugged. He then crouched down, picking up the broken parts. He glanced around then walked over to a nearby trash can and dumped the remains inside. “That should do it. Even if there was a tracker, all it’s going to show now is a broken signal.” 

Anna exhaled slowly, her shoulders loosening just a bit. “Okay. That’s one thing off the list.” 

“Next stop, coffee shop. We can get something to eat there while we wait for Sue to send the contracts via email.”
