Chapter 28. Relief and Questions
“What do you mean I have to go to Hell every week?” Anna demanded, her voice shaking despite her attempt to sound strong.
Zac looked at her with an amused expression. “It’s quite simple, really. You made a pact with me, and this is part of the terms. Every week, you must spend a day in Hell. Consider it… an exchange for the deal we made. Your mother is literally alive because of that deal, remember?” he smirked.
Anna’s heart pounded. She thought back to the day she made the deal, how he had shown up on her doorstep dressed so casually, just at the right time.
She had been desperate, cornered with no way out. Zac had promised her a way to do the impossible, and she had agreed without fully understanding the consequences.
But again, were any consequences too big to have her mother back in her life? Especially when she believed that it was her fault in the first place for the accident?
“Can’t you change the terms? Just a little?” she pleaded.
