Anna sat there, her heart thumping in her chest at the charges that were just said to her.

“You don’t get it,” she replied, chuckling with humor as she shook her head for a few seconds. “He does not deserve to go to prison. Victor is the one who needs to be punished. He was the one who had kidnapped me and said that if Zac would not kill Liam, he would kill me. Why don’t you try to understand?”

The detective’s stern expression softened for just a moment, her eyes flickering with something like understanding.
