Chapter 139. A New Country
Her body felt sluggish, her stomach uneasy. Then she felt it. Her period had started.
Perfect timing. That was sarcasm, of course. This couldn’t have been the worst time for this to happen to her.
At this point, she felt like she was being punished. But for what?
Of course, her body had chosen now, of all times, to add another layer of misery. It was almost laughable.
With a sigh, she pushed herself upright, rubbing her temples. She could already feel the familiar discomfort settling in…cramps twisting in her lower belly, the faint nausea creeping in.
She would have to push through it. There was no time to lie in bed and wallow.
She swung her legs over the side of the bed, stretching slightly before dragging herself to the bathroom. A shower would help. She hoped.
