Anna skidded to a stop, her heart slamming against her ribs. She was confused and intrigued at the same time.

It couldn’t be.

Carlos was gone. He had disappeared after Vito’s so-called death, after everything had fallen apart. She hadn’t seen or heard from him in months. 

But the guy running, the one moving effortlessly through the dimly lit streets who had passed her, had the same build, the same stride.

And his hair, gosh, his hair. It was one of the things she used to love about him. He had the most perfect hair in high school and still did.

Her lungs burned from the sudden halt, but she barely noticed. She could have sworn on her life that it was him.

But why would he be here? How and when did he come here, leaving America.
