Chapter 34. The Whole Truth
Mrs. Hall’s eyes widened, and her face paled at Kevin’s outburst. She exchanged a quick, anxious glance with Mr. Hall, who shifted uncomfortably, clearly taken aback by their son’s revelation.
“We were trying to protect you,” Mrs. Hall began, her voice trembling. “There’s so much you don’t understand.”
“Understand what?” Kevin shouted, unable to contain his frustration. “That our lives are a part of some twisted plot? That you’ve been hiding this from us while putting on a happy family act?”
Anna, sensing the rising tension, stepped forward. “Mom, Dad, we need to know everything. We can’t protect ourselves if we’re kept in the dark.”
Mr. Hall sighed deeply, rubbing his temples as if trying to alleviate the weight of the world.
“We never wanted this life for you. We tried to leave it behind, but some shadows are too long to escape.”
“Sit down,” Mrs. Hall gestured to the couch. “We need to explain from the beginning.”
