Chapter 5. Cabs and Surprises

Anna breathed a shaky sigh as she mentally chewed on what the demon king had just told her. She could feel her heart beating hard against her rib cage. She now belonged to the devil?

“Anna, don’t overthink or stress over it. It’s not much of a big deal,” the demon king said as he folded his arms on his chest carelessly.

“Can you even hear yourself?” She narrowed her eyes at him. “Maybe yeah, you have spent your entire life in the pits of hell, and you’re a king and all, but I’m human. Just a day before you knocked at my door, I didn’t even believe in heaven or hell, and now that I know that they exist, I am being forced to go to the one place that burns with unquenchable fire?!”

The demon king snickered at her emotional distress. “Okay?” he laughed even more.

“Screw this, I’m not going with you!” Anna stood her ground. Contract or not, I am not going to hell. And I refuse to be owned by any man, especially the devil.
