Chapter 8. The Devil’s Mark
Protecting her?
As far as Anna knew, the devil did not protect anyone. It was angels who did that, right?
She rocked back and forth in her chair as she stared at the demon king. There must have been something else that he was hiding.
“I don’t get it. Even if you’re telling me the truth, why would I need protection?” she asked him.
He continued to watch the ceiling of her room numbly as he lay on her bed.
“And you’re the devil. You don’t really care about anyone but yourself,” she added while chuckling to herself.
Zac scoffed lightly, and a look of hurt crossed his face.
Anna was taken aback. She thought that that should have been some kind of compliment for the lord of hell, so why did he look affected by it?
“Glad that you have figured me out….” Zac managed to say as he forced a smile. “And maybe you’re right. But anyway, I own you, Anna. You belong to me. And that means that I have to take care of and protect my property.”
