Chapter 39. Caught Off-Guard

Shantelle's POV

The next day, when I woke up, he was no longer beside me. I glanced at the clock, and it was already eight in the morning!

‘Oh my God! I still have to go to Gavin's office!’ 

My sleepiness was gone as soon as I realized this fact, and I hastily picked up the phone on the bedside table and immediately dialed Dani's number. 

The line went through, and I told her I would be late because I had a meeting at Gavin's company at nine in the morning. 

‘Why didn't Gavin wake me up?’ 

He knew that I would have a meeting with him at nine, but he didn't even wake me up. And he went to his company alone.

I messed my hair with frustration as I stared blankly at the ceiling. Maybe I was exhausted because I woke up late. 

My body felt heavy, and laziness was creeping on my insides. I didn't want to move and sleep again, but I had no choice and still rose from the bed.
