Elsie knocked on the Saberfin’s door and waited. She wasn’t at all surprised to see the bouquets of flowers strewn on the deck. If there was one thing she loved about the town, it’s that its residents were empathetic people and showed understanding when someone was passing through a hard time.
But this didn’t qualify as just a hard time; this was life and death, and Blakewood hadn’t seen anything like this since the Flint gang murder fifteen years ago.
It’s been three days since Lettie disappeared, and Elsie was becoming increasingly convinced that something had happened to her best friend. Her mom had suggested the possibility of Lettie hitting the road this morning, but Elsie shut her down immediately. Leticia would never do that, not to her and especially not to her beloved mother.
