Chapter 7

Flashback. 300 years ago

The river banks were flooded, and the rain showed no sign of stopping. It was an uphill task for Aizen to keep from being swept away by the current. The wound on his chest and side acerbated with each step he took and bled furiously. His head was getting woozy from the blood loss, and it was getting incredibly difficult to breathe. 

Everything had gone to hell. The ranks were scattered, and most of the wolves had fallen. He liked to believe he fought valiantly, and the gaping hole in his chest attested to that. In his injured state, he managed to take some more humans down before he lost a lot of blood and, with it, his strength. The remaining wolves were fleeing under the ground to escape the advancing humans, and in his bid to escape, he leaped off a small cliff and managed to land well but not without gashing his side on the cliff wall.
