Chapter 14

Raymond stopped in his tracks and signaled the others to do the same. A noise came from the trees in front of him. He toed slowly and quietly around the area, making sure not to lose sight of the fading footmarks on the forest floor. He signaled Harper to go around in the opposite direction and for the rest to spread out and cover them. 

An hour ago, he was in the precinct, mapping out more areas to cover in search of Leticia. He planned to go in the Western direction of the town and search the slummed-up area. One of his contacts that claimed he had a lead came up flat. The girl he honed on, thinking it could be Leticia, ended up being an underage stripper in the city. 

Raymond had his plans ready and was going to mobilize his team when Locke came in with a report from a local woman, saying that she heard screaming in the area around the woods at about three in the morning. Raymond hadn’t wanted to go and considered sending Orion instead, but a gut feeling tol
