Chapter 12. Creepy Night

The moon peeped through the almond tree leaves and faintly lit up the dark path ahead. James Walker cast a terrified glance at Lacey and whispered in a frightened voice, “Must we do this tonight?”

It wasn’t Lacey’s idea that they are out in the forest at this odd hour to search for a plant known as ‘wolfbane,’ it was Zed’s idea. Wolfbane isn’t a plant James should be around. He should be far from the plant.

Lacey slackened her pace and gave James a surprised look. “He didn’t tell you what we are out here to get, did he?”

“No, he didn’t. He just asked me to escort you.”

James wasn’t filled in by Zed. All Zed told him was to follow Lacey to the forest to get something. Never did Zed mention to him what exactly they are going into the forest to get. At least, it would have been better if James was told or better still for Zed to wait till morning before sending them out into the forest.

James’ kind is not supposed to be around wolfbane. It’s one of their w
