Chapter 42. Going Home
Lacey was standing at the hilltop staring down at her late father’s barony that is been ruled by her mother. From the look of things, things have really changed. It’s no longer as it use to be under her father’s rule. There would be around 700 people under the barony. Furthermore, a manor would be around 4 square kilometers. Thus a knight's fee would be around 6 square kilometers. This has made her mother the baroness to own about 60 square kilometers of land which was under the rule of her late father the baron.
James noticed the look on her face and the change in her mood. He slides down from the horse and makes his way to her. “If you think it’s a bad idea coming here, we can leave now,” he said.
“No, we have come this far to go back. We will proceed. I must see my mother.”
“Frankly speaking, I don’t like the idea of you meeting with the same woman that wants you dead.”
“I understand your concern for me but I must see her.”
