Chapter 23
Shantelle’s POV
In a small, cozy sick bay room, I and Keshon are both lying on adjacent beds. Keshon had a thermometer in her mouth while I was flipping through a magazine.
I had to bring her here. I didn’t want to be here, but I couldn’t just leave her.
She needed my help, and that was what I was going to do. I was going to be here for her because she deserved it.
In a muffled voice, I asked her. “Keshon, remind me why we always end up in this place together?” I was genuinely curious about what she had to say to me.
Keshon was giggling. It’s like a tradition now. If one of us were here, the other person must be here too. It was a new certainty. It was like our immune systems just love taking breaks together.
I was resting, and everybody knew they weren’t supposed to bring me out of this place.
I would leave her till I was very sure that she was okay and she didn’t need my help.
