Chapter 57
Shantelle’s POV
“Are you okay, Shantelle?” It was Reginald again. He couldn’t stay away from me, and I couldn’t stay away from him, but I had to do this because he didn’t think I was mature enough to know what was going on.
“Can I come in?” he asked.
“No,” I said almost immediately. I didn’t want to see him, and I wasn’t going to hide that fact. If he wanted to leave, then he could do that.
Pacing at my door wasn’t going to soften what had just happened downstairs. I was fine being lied to and treated like I shouldn’t be aware of what was happening around me. Mama didn’t care about any of that with me; she didn’t tell me anything. But Papa and Reginald were different. They wanted me to know what was wrong so I would be careful.
“Shantelle, you need to stop this childishness!” Reginald called out.
