Chapter 137. What You Are Not

She watched as the dagger came down slowly to pierce the heart of her baby as she struggled to move through the fog that seemed to be slowing her down.

"You will not make it. You will watch your son die right in front of you" her subconscious whispered to her just as she heard the piercing wail of her child penetrate the fog. 

Natalie laughed maniacally as she raised the bloodied dagger "That was for taking my man, bitch."

"I will kill you!" Marissa screamed as she rushed toward her. Natalie's laughter and her son's piercing wail mingled in her head. She screamed again and again in frustration as she seemed unable to get to Natalie and her son no matter how much she ran.

"Come and get me," Natalie taunted in a song.

Marissa rolled over in bed as the echo of that maniacal laugh and her son's anguished wail kept sounding in her head.
