Chapter 141. A Very Small Chance

"She looked better than the last time I saw her," was the first thought that came to Bernard's mind as he stood there on the threshold of Marissa's home, wondering if she would invite him in or send him back. The conflicting emotions on her face did nothing to ascertain what her action would be.

"Daddy Bernard, finally, you have come!" Emma shouted as he embraced him, distracting Bernard from feasting his eyes on the stunning woman in front of him.

Bernard crouched down to be at eye level with Emma "How are you doing? How was school this term? You told me the other day that you are on holiday now, right?"

Emma nodded. "I am doing fine, sir. I took the second position in my class. Mummy said I did very well, but I can still do better. So next term, I will try harder and learn better," Emma explained to Bernard while jumping on a spot excitedly.
