Chapter 137
Sophia’s POV
We trudged forward, exhausted and thirsty. The blood emerald safely tucked in the black leather satchel slung over my shoulders. I paused in my laborious walk and brought out a small sized canteen, gauged the amount of water inside, then chugged all of it down. The rest of us did the same, it was obvious we were all tired. There wasn’t enough water but it would do. It would have to because we had no other choice.
My own throat was now slightly wet, though I needed more, it was better than having a parched, dry one. I looked at my friends and we continued our journey, taking slow, tired steps. In a fleeting moment of the sun hitting my eyes when I raised my head to inhale deeply, my vision got blurred and my legs hit against a small boulder blocking my path… or maybe I had stumbled toward it on its own path, I wasn’t sure which but the pain that shot through my big toe was painfully blinding.
