Chapter 16

Sophia’s POV

We were still roaming the forest in search of clues that could lead us to the blood emerald. The forest wasn’t pleasant at all. In place of mosquitoes were some really tiny demons that sucked on the energy of the soul. I had to cast a spell to keep the relentless demons at Bay. The underworld was really tiring and we were all beginning to feel drowsy, having walked the underworld equivalent of a three day journey with no sleep and more importantly no food.

I had thought that all such regular necessities would become irrelevant once we entered the underworld. But unfortunately, a human will always be a human even if they possess supernatural abilities. I couldn’t move anymore and I could feel the strain on my legs.

“Man I’m fucking tired,” I said and sat down on the ground.

“Really?” Elijah asked, “I feel a bit okay.”

“Speak for yourself,” James said, “I’m beat,” he added after which he also sat on the ground.
