Chapter 15

Sophia’s POV

The “demon rain” was still pouring outside the cave and I, James and Derek set out deeper into the cave to see if we could find anything spectacular or at least remotely interesting. The cave was well lit by the glowing gems lined up all over the inner walls of the cave. I saw James take a few samples of the stones from the cave wall and we continued our hike. We had barely walked for fifteen minutes, before we found ourselves in front of an underground lake.

“I wonder if it’s water,” James said. “Guess I better check it out,” James said as he walked towards the lake.

“Be careful,” said Derek, “I don’t trust this place.”

“Hmm,” James said while staring at him somewhat in awe, “I guess you’re what my folks would call a diamond in the rough.”

“Hum, what does that mean?” asked Derek.

“I think it refers to a nice person whose appearance and behavior don’t seem nice,” I answered.
