Chapter 12. Hurt by Nate's Behavior

“Alexie,” he whispered, almost to himself. 

“When are you coming home?” asked Alexis shyly. She hadn’t planned to talk to him but at the last moment, she couldn’t resist the temptation. Her question brought Drake out of his trance. 

“Are you missing me?” asked Drake with a goofy smile on his face while his heart started beating faster and faster. 

“Yes,” said Alexis more shyly than ever. There was no point in hiding it, anyway. She was missing him like a sore thumb. Drake wanted to jump with joy, but he just controlled himself at the last minute. 

“I’ll come back soon,” he promised with a giddy smile on his face.

“Hmm, bye,” sighed Alexis. She knew what soon meant. He would return after completing his studies. 

“Message me sometimes, Alexie. Bye,” said Drake, disconnecting the call. A radiant smile broke out on Alexis’s face after hearing his last words.
